33 Acre.png

33 Acres Brewing Company
A family owned and operated brewery. Opening Spring 2013. In old english times an acre was considered as the amount of land an ox could plough in a day, later measured as (66′ x 660′). The respect of a hard days work combined with integrity and creativity, are the three ingredients our family run brewery values above all else. Our name combines the power three and the application of six to give 33 Acres Brewing Co. the character we all strive to be.

Our story begins when twentysomethings Stuart and Colleen Allan opened Buzzards Restaurant way back in 1980. As a cafe, then a wine bar, then as a destination for “cowboy cuisine” Buzzards has been going strong for nearly 33 years.

Stuart and Colleen were having so much fun running Buzzards Restaurant that five years later, in 1985, they opened Bottlescrew Bill’s Pub in the space adjacent to the restaurant. Eventually the pub expanded to take over the space previously occupied by the Calgary Press Club.

In 2011 the pub and restaurant were completely overhauled, outfitted with modern yet casual pub decor. Our bright, sunny restaurant sits on a great corner location overlooking 10th avenue and 1st St. SW. Tucked in behind the restaurant, Bottlescrew Bill’s Pub is spread over three distinct rooms and shares the same great menu, beer list and service as the restaurant side. We pride ourselves on our extensive beer selection with over 300 different beers from more than 35 countries.

A second generation family-run business, Stuart and Colleen’s son Geoff and daughter Jennifer now oversee daily operations.

We’re located right behind the Fairmont Palliser hotel, around the corner from the Calgary Tower and just a short walk from Stampede Park and the Saddledome. Stop by and say hello!

Bruxelles.jpg

Bruxelles is a cosmopolitan bar. Located just a step away from Grafton Street, Dublin’s busiest shopping thoroughfare. Bruxelles is the ideal venue for breakfast, lunch or dinner. It’s a sports bar and a music bar, with djs in three bars and regular live music. If you don’t have a ticket for the big game; see it in Bruxelles. It might be better; with terrace banter, cold beer and cosy surroundings. Bruxelles is an ideal meeting place because it’s right in the heart of things. And once you get there, you won’t want to leave.

Bruxelles Bar played such a huge part in the birth of the Irish music scene. To Skid Row, then Thin Lizzy, this became their second home around the late 1960’s-early 1970’s.

This is the oldest bar in Key West just off of Duval St. & worth the stop in for a refreshing pint of Key West Sunset Ale. The building itself has a history as unique and diverse as the character who have frequented it over the years from Ernest Hemingway, Truman Capote, to Harry Truman & JFK. And every true Parrot Head knows, this is the bar that Jimmy Buffett got his first start in, and when in town still stops in for a drink (but only preforms at his bar Margaritaville Cafe around the corner).
